Unlike at most cycle shops tandems are not a side line for us. My association with tandems goes back to the 1970's when I first rode tandem with my family.

Many tandemists will be familiar with the Dawes Double Edge which has been around for many years. The tandem pictured has been extensively rebuilt to improve its performance. The front forks have been replaced with PZ Carbon racing forks which unlike the stock forks have plenty of rake. This together with the wider, stiffer fat boy bars has made the bike much more stable and comfortable to ride. XT V-brakes have greatly improved braking over the original cantilever brakes. No need for disc brakes! I've also fitted XT 9 speed gears with a 11 - 32 cassette. The shifter are on the rear handlebars giving the stoker greater responsibility - the shorter cables make indexing better.

Resprayed and rebuilt with original hubs and rims with stainless steel spokes. XT front and rear gears and Stronglight chainset.
